主讲人介绍：

Dr. Thompson Rodney Bruce,with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from the University of Melbourne and a PhD from the University of Reading,is a full professor in Agronomy at the University of Almeria (UAL) in Spain,a member of the UAL Crop Nitrogen and Irrigation Lab,and a co-Editor-in-Chief of Agricultural Water Management.

He focuses on optimizing irrigation and fertigation for intensive vegetable crops to reduce nitrate pollution,water,and nutrient use,emphasizing integrated irrigation and N management,while also addressing salinity and related nutrient issues,including the salinity/nitrate leaching paradox. His work combines planning via simulation-model-based DSSs and monitoring using irrigation/N sensors (e.g.,optical sensors,soil/plant testing),with practical procedures developed for local systems.

Active in knowledge dissemination and technology transfer to farmers,he founded and now deputizes in EUVRIN’s Fertilization and Irrigation Working Group,and collaborates with Chinese colleagues on greenhouse vegetable production.
